Environmental Education (EE)

In 1972 The UN Conference on the Human Environment called for:

“the development of environmental education as one of the most critical elements of an all-out attack on the world’s environmental crisis.

Deepening our relation with and understanding of the earth will help ensure a thriving planet for generations to come. We need this more than ever.

Contributions to the Field

Regional EE Networks: A How-To Guide

As a contractor for the Kentucky Environmental Education Council, Erin served as the primary author of this extensive guidebook designed to help individuals and organizations form and sustain local regional environmental education networks. It includes the story of the Clark County EE Network, which Erin helped to form and for which she currently serves as the facilitator.

“An Investigation of the Need for and Availability of Environmental Education and Outdoor Recreation in Clark County, Kentucky”

As an applied professional master’s project, Erin conducted an in-depth needs assessment to increase the scope and reach of EE in the county and inform program development for a new park. The results were presented to and benefited several local organizations and led to the development of the state’s first county-wide EE group.

Music and EE

People are more drawn to EE programs that incorporate live music.

Music has a powerful ability to emotionally affect listeners and define experiences, which deepens learning and engagement.

Erin strives to integrate her music with nature experiences and environmental education initiatives for adults and children.

Please reach out if you are an organization or an individual who would like to work with Erin on crafting a musical learning experience or an EE fundraising event.
